The Portrait Session Experience
Personalized Planning: Your senior photo session at the Biltmore Estate will be tailored to reflect your unique personality and style. We’ll work together to plan every detail, from the locations within the estate to the outfits that best showcase your individuality. Prior to each session I get to know each of my seniors through a consultation call. We will take this time to plan the session of your dreams!
Outfit Tips: During the consultation call we will plan the outfit choices for your session. Most of my seniors will bring 2-4 outfits. I bring a pop up changing tent to make changing clothes easy no matter where we are! Wardrobe and styling are a huge part of making your photos unique and beautiful. We will work together to create looks that reflect your personality, but also play off of the beauty of the Biltmore Estate.
Posing and Comfort: Not many people feel comfortable in front of the camera, but I’ve got you! I will guide you through natural poses and expressions, ensuring you look your best while having fun throughout the session. We laugh and twirl and move and I promise we will have the best time together!
FAQs about Senior Photos at the Biltmore Estate
Do we need to purchase a ticket to the Estate? More than likely, no! I can get my clients onto the estate after 5pm with my pass. So during the months of March – October when the sun sets later we arrive at or after 5pm and have plenty of time for sunset photos. In the months of Nov-Feb you may be required to purchase a grounds pass to enter the estate before 5pm.
How much time should we allow for the session? The short answer is about 2.5 hours. I like to shoot close to sunset for the most magical light so we will typically start about 2.5 hours prior to that. It takes about 20 minutes to drive onto the estate and another 10 to park and walk so the first half hour is logistics. The rest of the time will be shooting and walking between locations.
Will there be a ton of people in the background of my images? No way! The house closes at 5 in the warmer months so most of the heavy people traffic has finished. We are allowed to walk around outside the house and photograph as we pleased. If there are people who end up in the background of an image they can be easily removed with photoshop.
Are we allowed to photograph inside the house? No, we are not allowed to take photos inside the house.
Can we shoot at multiple locations within the Estate? Yes! We can photograph all around the actual estate, in the gardens, on the hiking trails, around the lagoons and around antler hill village.
